Our 7th Annual Event: Sunday, September 24, 4:30 - 7:30 PM
We are so excited . . .
Here are some things to expect: This year's event will be "An Evening With the Therapy Dogs" at Hart & Main in Old Town Newhall, 5 minutes from the spot where Interstate-5 meets the 14 Freeway in the city of Santa Clarita. Bring yourself, a date, your mom, your dog-lover child, or a group of co-workers. This is an indoor/outdoor venue with partial shade and misters. We suggest "dressy casual" attire. The venue is wheelchair-accessible. There is a public parking lot across from the venue and additional parking on the street. Newhall also has a Metrolink Train Station within walking distance. We recommend arriving right at 4:30 or maybe earlier if you'd like to walk around Newhall, a cowboy town that was once a stop on the Pony Express, where the sidewalks feature "The Walk of Western Stars" honoring legends of western film, television and radio. As you enter our event, you will be welcomed by the classical guitar music of Michael Murphy and a glass of champagne or sparkling cider. (Your ticket covers the cost of non-alcoholic beverages and this welcoming glass of champagne.) A full no host bar offers additional wine, beer or mixed drinks. Make sure and stop by the complimentary Desert Rose Photography booth to create some priceless memories. A digital photo can be sent directly to your email. (You might want to include one of the therapy dogs in your photo.) Go ahead and start scanning the silent auction and raffle items for fun items or gifts like A Cowgirl's Spa Day Basket from My Western Heart. There is a booth nearby selling raffle tickets. An Italian Feast catered by Wolf Creek Brewery and Restaurant will be presented buffet style at 5:00. Shortly after that, the guitarist will hand the stage over to a classical quartet from West Coast Classical. But first, Senior Program Manger Kate Buhrmaster from Amerman Family Dog Therapy Program at Children's Hospital Los Angeles will introduce the therapy dogs and handlers to you. This is a great time to ask a question if you want to know more about our furry heroes! At 6:00, the Italian Buffet will close and you can hop in line 6:30 to enjoy a refreshing ice cream sundae bar, courtesy of Hart and Main. Don't forget to head to the rooftop patio for a view and a quick selfie. But first, check our your favorite silent auction item! You might want to sneak in a last minute bid before the silent auction table closes at 7 pm. (Payment for silent auction items is accepted through cash, Venmo, check or credit card.) You can take your item home with you that same night! Finally, be sure and steal some priceless love from the 5 or 6 therapy dogs that will be wandering around at the event with their handlers who can provide you with information about the hospital's popular program which brings joy to CHLA patients, their parents, and medical professionals. We are an annual fundraiser and social event just for the Dog Therapy Program at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Thank you for your interest! |
